Hello!

My name is Melissa and I am a certified veterinary technician with 20+ years experience in GP. After leading a nurse/technician team for more than half of my career, I know how rewarding yet challenging it can be to help staff feel well-nourished, supported and appreciated. I look forward to filling in during those much needed vacations, leave of absences and the occasional unplanned sick day. I am also open and excited to learn outside of the general practice setting!

My services include: gentle and efficient patient handling; routine venipuncture and cystocentesis; inducing, maintaining and monitoring anesthetic patients, including IV catheter placement, intubation, sterile prep and post-op monitoring; sterile assistance during surgical procedures; dental assessment, charting, radiographs and cleaning; full-body radiographs (with personal dosimetry badge); impression smear cytology, including skin, ear and infectious sites; in-house and outgoing lab sample processing; client communication and education; medical history collection; discussing treatment plans and estimated costs with clients; tech/nurse appointments; general housekeeping.

I have adequate contractor's insurance in place and carry my own health insurance.  

I meet all CE requirements to renew my license annually and I am currently certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in CPR: Basic and Advanced Life Support.

I most appreciate workplaces that provide clear, honest and kind communication, with considerate compassion for patients, their people and the entire staff. While I recognize when we need to focus on sensitive or complicated cases, I also enjoy working with people who have a humble, goofy sense of humor. Outside of work, my husband, daughter and I love to cook, garden, travel, camp, eat pizza, spend good quality time with family and close friends, and snuggle at home with popcorn and a movie with our cat, Dagny (top left photo, followed clockwise by some of our past loves: Indy, Scooter and Billy w/Scooter).
